On a daily basis, we see the extent to which sustainability is talked about in the contexts of business, private life, investment choices and more. Whether something falls under the category of sustainability is up to each of us to decide. “Greenwashing” inspires companies and individuals to interpret it as one wants. Despite judgments we make from such interpretations, it’s important for everyone who espouses sustainability to live and act by the values that represent sustainability.
But what does sustainability really mean? Many of us overlook the principle action of resource usage; The ongoing satisfaction of needs should be guaranteed by the preservation of the natural and regenerative capacities of the systems involved – that is, from living beings through our ecosystems. Today, however, our world suffers from relentless consumption. The “I HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW” mentality of consumers makes it difficult for us to manage the means of production without causing environmental damage.
The long-lasting effect of resource usage should be balanced with resource conservation. We are far from that, and, as such, our sustainability goals are neither kept nor reached. The dilemma of usage versus conservation has resulted in widespread negative dimensions. Change can only come from shifting our ego-centric, judgment-minded approaches to ones that embody values and ethics in line with conservation.
Where do we go from here? Perhaps we start by reflecting on whether consumption should always be the order of the day, by stepping off the hamster wheel of buying, discarding and buying more. We must pause and reorient ourselves toward what makes our lives worth living. The most meaningful aspects of life cannot be bought. Health, love, family, friends, nature, weather and much more, are often determined by circumstance. Often, we can only conditionally influence them, which makes them more precious.
Limiting overall consumption through our willingness to accept less is concrete action that goes beyond just having a positive attitude about sustainability. We have it in our hands to create, care for and to appeal for a better world. But? Yes, one must simply live it!
Opportunities exist – without risk – solidarity brings joy
Whether in professional or private life, we steer the ecosystems that guide us. No one can evade responsibility, nor can we delegate it to others; Small pushes together move large mountains. So, let’s start with ourselves and rejoice that we live happily and privileged. If there is a meal that’s enough for two people, then we can always make room at the table for a third person – they will never forget it and will always thank us.
Instead of focusing on constant consumption, we should lead with quality, learn craftsmanship and reduce “waste.” By the same token, revising products with passion and care rather than creating new ones not only reduces consumption, it increases product life span.
By starting with ourselves and taking responsible control, we do not leave the initiative to others to do it for us. Our positive values and attitudes will drive a productive process, especially if they are reasonable and not focused on doing things for the sake of making appearances. Perhaps we could call this process sustain-stability, combining both sustainability with a stability we consciously guide.
After sustain-stability – the new “I”
Self-realization includes being considerate of our environment, our fellow human beings and, of course, our resources. Preserve what is dear and valuable to you! Whether it is a relationship, a profession, a product, a piece of land, vineyards, forests or animals, we should always honor and care for them. Emphasize and reflect on sustain-stability. The deeper we become aware of what it means to deal with a something in a profound way, the higher our joy and self-confidence develops. The power of our attitude positively affects our environment. Living and experiencing our positive values each day We change only already with this attitude enormously much and can let our environment also positively participate. If everyone is happy again, satisfied with what we have, just live it and experience it, then we will surely have the future under control.
We can extend this attitude very well also to the occupation, our activity and experience with joy, how the surrounding field can make friends with it positively. Intrigues, envy or also cutting out by egoism and friction will be absent, mutually support and help will occur – the successes will show it. In the togetherness at the daily (occupation) life again appreciation show, praise distribute, and gratitude let feel, holds enormous motivation need. We all know this and hear it gladly, if in the dialogue also the positive is mentioned – not only with negative phrases around surely one rages and thereby a bad mood to arise lets. Let’s try to pile up the good deeds and create moments of happiness!
Emotionalization creates lasting empathy
Often there is a lack of clear dialogue, where it is expressed how one feels and can pick up the other person. The identification with feelings moves mountains and creates loyalty, solidarity as well as a clear emotional bond. Less – but better! In addition to the rational thought process, the heart is the deciding factor. As positively as you talk to someone, as you take care of nature and your things, so it thanks with a multiplicity our behavior. So let’s live sustainably in all situations and let live, accept opinions – even if you don’t see it 100% like that for yourself, in the knowing base we are able to deal with it and change it positively.
Feelings are the newly experienced emotion and create empathy – longing, love, security, happiness – everything is controlled by the feelings and is considered the most important emotionalization factor. Therefore, sustainability must be made tangible with storytelling, then the effect is most perceptible! Sensitivity is required, feelings show intagibe and tangible implementation the new I.
